How to Make an Outgoing Call

Place calls from the dashboard, mobile app, inbox, or click-to-call while keeping your business number visible.

Overview

800.com makes it easy to place outgoing calls directly from your dashboard or the mobile app. Whether you're following up with a lead, returning a missed call, or contacting a customer, outgoing calling lets you call using your 800.com business number instead of your personal phone number.

Make an Outgoing Call from the Dashboard

To place a call from your dashboard:

  1. Log in to your 800.com account.
  2. Click the Call icon from the left navigation menu.
  3. Enter the phone number using the keypad or type it directly into the dialer.
  4. If your account has multiple phone numbers, select the number you want to call from using the Make a Call From dropdown.
  5. Click Call to place the call.

Tip: If you've enabled Click-to-Call, you can also click supported phone numbers throughout the web to automatically launch the 800.com dialer.

Call Someone from Your Inbox

You can quickly return calls without manually entering a phone number.

  1. Open Inbox.
  2. Select the conversation or call record.
  3. Click the Phone icon in the upper-right corner.
  4. The dialer automatically populates the recipient's phone number.
  5. Click Call to begin the conversation.

This is useful for returning missed calls, following up on voicemails, or continuing customer conversations.

During an Active Call

While you're on a call, you can manage the conversation using the in-app dialer.

Available controls include:

  • Mute your microphone
  • Open the keypad for touch-tone input
  • Place the caller on hold and resume the call
  • End the call

Depending on your account configuration, additional calling features such as call transfers may also be available.

Choosing Your Outgoing Caller ID

If your account includes multiple business numbers, you can choose which number appears to your customer before placing the call.

Simply select the desired number from the Make a Call From dropdown before dialing.

Outgoing Caller ID Notes

When placing outgoing calls from a toll-free number:

  • Your outgoing Caller ID displays your 800.com phone number.
  • Toll-free numbers do not support custom CNAM (Caller Name) display.
  • Some carriers may display messages such as "TOLL FREE" or "Spam Likely" based on their own spam detection systems.
  • 800.com cannot control or modify how receiving carriers display your Caller ID.

Note: Some carriers may block calls from unregistered toll-free numbers. If this occurs, you may need to register your number directly with that carrier.

Use Outgoing Calling on Mobile

Outgoing calling is also available through the 800.com mobile app, allowing you to make and receive business calls from anywhere using your business number.
