Problems Receiving Calls on Mobile Devices/Disabling Spam Filter
If numbers or users aren't receiving calls, this is often due to a spam filter on the receiving device rather than a problem with your service.
Choose your device type below for step-by-step instructions on turning off the filter, or use the service through a browser window instead.
- iPhone: Involves turning off Silence Unknown Callers, Call Blocking & Identification, and Screen Unknown Callers in the Phone settings. See Fix Missed Calls on iPhone by Turning Off Spam Filtering.
- Pixel or stock Android: Involves turning off Caller ID & spam filtering in the Phone app, and Spam protection in Messages if texts are affected too. See Fix Missed Calls on a Pixel or Stock Android Phone by Turning Off Spam Filtering.
- Samsung Galaxy: Involves turning off Caller ID and spam protection in the Phone app settings. See Fix Missed Calls on a Samsung Galaxy Phone by Turning Off Spam Filtering.
If you'd rather avoid device settings altogether, you can also make and receive calls through a browser window or the mobile app — see How to Enable In-App Calling.
Carrier-Level Spam Blocking
Device settings aren't the only place spam filtering happens — your carrier may also block or flag calls at the network level, separate from anything configured on the phone itself. Steps vary by carrier:
T-Mobile (Scam Shield):
- Open the T-Life app (or the Scam Shield app, if still installed).
- Go to the Scam Block section.
- Select Turn off.
Note: simply uninstalling the app does not disable this — Scam Block runs at the network level and has to be turned off through the app or T-Mobile's website, or calls may continue to be silently blocked even after the app is gone.
AT&T (Call Protect / ActiveArmor):
- Open the AT&T ActiveArmor app, or sign in to your account at att.com.
- Go to Call Protect settings.
- Slide the Call Protect toggle to Off and save. (Alternatively, dial *87 from the AT&T mobile line to opt out.)
Verizon (Call Filter):
- Open the My Verizon app, or sign in at verizon.com.
- Go to Call Filter settings.
- Turn the spam filter/blocking setting Off. (On iPhone, also turn off Silence Junk Callers in the Call Filter app's Block tab.)
Note: for both AT&T and Verizon, deleting the app alone does not disable spam filtering — it runs at the network level and must be turned off through the app, carrier website, or by contacting the carrier directly.
If your Caller ID setting is set to Caller's Number (showing the caller's actual number rather than your 800.com number), calls may still be blocked or marked as spam by the carrier's own filtering — turning off the device-level spam filter above won't fix this, since the block is happening upstream at the carrier.
To resolve this:
- Follow the steps above for your recipient's carrier. If they're on a different carrier not listed here, they should look for an equivalent spam-blocking feature in their carrier's app or account settings and disable it there.
- Alternatively, have them save your 800.com number as a contact. Saved contacts are far less likely to be flagged, and this often bypasses carrier-level spam filtering without needing to change any settings on their end.
