Retraining Your AI Agent From Your Website

When you retrain your agent from its website, the system re-crawls your site and compares it against your existing Website Analysis knowledge documents — but only checks for what's changed since the last retrain, not a full regeneration from scratch each time. This keeps the review step focused on what's actually new or different, rather than re-surfacing content you've already reviewed.

  • Only Website Analysis documents are checked. Documents sourced from a manual upload or from call training are never touched by a retrain — only content originally generated from your website (FAQs, company overview, products/services, pricing and policies, address, and similar sections).
  • Manually-added documents are untouched. Any knowledge documents you've added or edited yourself are never modified or removed during a retrain.
  • New sections are added automatically. If your site now includes content your agent didn't have before (for example, you've added a pricing page), a new knowledge item is created for that section and linked to your agent.
  • First-time generation. If your agent has a website connected but has never been analyzed before, retraining generates all available sections as new knowledge items (typically around 5 core documents, up to 20 for larger sites).
  • Your decisions persist. If you've manually edited or removed something from a Website Analysis document, a later retrain won't silently bring it back — only genuinely new or changed content from the site is surfaced for review.

Nothing goes live automatically — you always review the changes before they're applied.

Requirements and limits

  • Your agent's knowledge base must have a website connected to recrawl.
  • Only one recrawl can run at a time. While a recrawl is in progress, you'll see a status indicator, and you won't be able to start another until the current one finishes and you've reviewed it (either applied or discarded).
  • You can recrawl once every 3 days, measured from your agent's last analysis. If you try again sooner, you'll be told when the next recrawl becomes available.

How to retrain your agent from your website

  1. Go to AI Agents > Agents and open the agent you want to update.
  2. Scroll to the Knowledge Base section.
  3. Click Retrain.
  4. In the Retrain from website dialog, confirm or update the Website URL, then click Retrain.
  5. Once the recrawl finishes, the Review knowledge base updates screen shows each detected change individually — only the sections where something is actually new or different since your last retrain, shown as a side-by-side comparison of your current content and the new content.
  6. Review each change and use the checkmarks to choose which updates to keep. Use Select all or None to quickly select or clear every item.
  7. Click Apply updates to save your selections. Only the items you've checked are updated — everything else stays as-is.
    • If you decide not to make any changes, click Discard to leave your knowledge base completely unchanged.
    • Rejected changes won't resurface. Since each retrain only compares against what changed since the last one, an update you didn't apply this time won't be shown again on the next retrain unless the underlying website content changes again.
  8. Once applied, your agent is redeployed with the refreshed content, and you'll see a confirmation showing how many knowledge base items were updated and how many were newly added.

Good to know

  • Recrawling only updates sections the system originally generated from your website. Documents you've uploaded or written manually are never changed.
  • You choose what to apply — reviewing and confirming updates is always required before anything changes on your live agent.
  • If your website can't be reached at all, the recrawl fails and no knowledge base items are created or changed. You'll see an error letting you know the site couldn't be reached.
  • If only some pages fail to load but enough content is still gathered, the recrawl continues using what it could reach. As always, nothing changes until you review and apply the updates.
