The ASC Event Tracking integration allows automotive dealerships to track standardized Automotive Standards Council (ASC) events across their websites and call activity. These events provide consistent, actionable data that helps teams better understand customer behavior, improve engagement, and optimize conversions.

ASC Event Tracking is a standalone integration that can be enabled or disabled directly from the Integrations page.

What Is ASC Event Tracking?

ASC Event Tracking uses event definitions created by the Automotive Standards Council (ASC) to standardize data collection for dealership websites. These events align with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and ensure consistent reporting across marketing, sales, and analytics tools.

By enabling ASC Event Tracking in 800.com, dealerships can:

  • Send ASC events to GA4

  • Surface ASC context on call timelines

  • Control which events and parameters are captured and displayed

Prerequisites

Before enabling ASC Event Tracking, make sure the following requirements are met:

  • Your account represents an automotive dealership.

  • GA4 is configured to receive ASC events.
    (See: GA4 integration documentation)

  • For best results, call recording and transcription are enabled for all applicable call tracking (DNI) pools.
(See: Call Recording and Transcription documentation)

Overview

ASC Events are specific Google Analytics events defined by the Automotive Standards Council to standardize data collection across dealership websites. These events enable dealerships to gather consistent and actionable data, enhancing their ability to track user interactions comprehensively.

Configuring ASC Event Tracking

When the integration is added, you’ll be taken to a configuration page. Select the GA4 account you will use for ASC here.

ASC Event Fields & Timeline Labels

When ASC Event Tracking is enabled, the following ASC fields may be captured and displayed on the call timeline, depending on your configuration settings. Each field is pulled from the ASC datalayer and shown with a user-friendly label.

Supported ASC Fields

How These Fields Are Used

  • Fields are extracted directly from the ASC datalayer

  • Organization or Account Admins can choose which fields appear on the timeline

  • ASC Outcome and ASC Department appear automatically when the integration is enabled

  • Availability depends on the ASC events fired and data provided by the website

Event Selection

Organization or Account Admins can select which ASC events should be sent to GA4 from the list of supported ASC events.

Only selected events will be transmitted.

Event Parameters on the Timeline

Admins can also choose which ASC event parameters (such as Make, Model, Year, etc.) should appear on the call timeline.

This allows teams to control how much automotive context is shown during call review and analysis.

ASC Data on the Timeline

When ASC Event Tracking is enabled:

  • ASC Department and ASC Outcome automatically appear on the timeline

  • Any ASC event parameters selected in the configuration also appear

  • Timeline data reflects the integration’s current settings

This gives teams immediate automotive context when reviewing calls and interactions.

ASC Department Logic

How the ASC Department value is determined depends on whether call transcriptions are enabled.

If Transcriptions Are Disabled

  • The Department is populated based on the tag set in the ASC Category Mapping

  • Category mappings are configured on the ASC Event Tracking integration configuration page

If Transcriptions Are Enabled

  • AI analyzes the call transcription to determine the most appropriate Department

  • If the Department cannot be determined from the transcription, the system falls back to the ASC Category Mapping

ASC Outcome Logic

How the ASC Outcome value is determined depends on whether AI features are enabled.

  • If AI is enabled:
Outcome is determined using the call transcription

  • If AI is not enabled:
    Outcome displays as Unknown

Users can manually edit the ASC Outcome directly from the timeline if needed.

Key Things to Know

  • ASC Department and ASC Outcome appear only when ASC Event Tracking is enabled

  • Department determination follows a fallback logic to ensure values are populated whenever possible

  • Outcome can always be manually adjusted

  • Timeline values reflect the most current configuration and available data

  • You can only use each phone number and/or tag once in the supported ASC fields

Disabling ASC Event Tracking

ASC Event Tracking can be disabled at any time from the Integrations page.

When disabled:

  • ASC events stop sending to GA4

  • ASC fields no longer appear on the timeline

  • Existing historical data remains unchanged

Key Things to Know

  • ASC Event Tracking is a standalone integration

  • It can be enabled or disabled at the Org or Account level

  • GA4 configuration is required

  • Event and parameter visibility is configurable

  • Timeline data reflects integration settings in real time
