Whether you're running digital ads, social media campaigns, or traditional print marketing, 800.com makes it easy to track the results.

Here’s how to get started.

Step 1: Create or Log into Your 800.com Account

Before anything else, you’ll need an active 800.com account and be on the Pro Plan. If you don’t already have one:

  • Existing Users: Go to your Dashboard > Call Tracking > Upgrade > Select Pro Plan

  • New Users: Go to 800.com > Pricing > Select Pro Plan

  • You can start with a free trial or go ahead and purchase the monthly or annual Pro Plan Package

  • Complete the account setup process

Once you're in, you’re ready to start tracking!

Step 2: Purchase Your Website Tracking Numbers

With 800.com, you can purchase toll-free or local phone numbers to assign to different campaigns or marketing sources. Let's start with your website using 800.com’s Dynamic Number Insertion (DNI) to display different phone numbers based on the visitor’s traffic source (e.g., Google, social, email). This gives you accurate tracking for online campaigns.

Here’s how:

Go to your Dashboard > Number Management > Get More Numbers > Call Tracking

  1. Select "On my Website"

  2. Choose between "Calls, keywords, and web sessions" or "Calls only"

  3. Fill in your Tracking Options

  4. Fill in your Website Pool Setup and choose between toll-free or local. Our system will determine how many numbers you need based on daily website visitation.

  5. Select the area code or prefix you want

  6. Choose your Number Routing option

  7. Save and Activate!

Step 3: Purchase Additional Tracking Numbers (Optional)

Now it’s time to connect each number with a specific marketing effort. Use your tracking numbers wherever that campaign appears:

  • Use one number on Google Ads

  • Another on your Facebook campaign

  • A third on your direct mail postcards

  • And so on…

Here’s how:

Go to your Dashboard > Number Management > Get More Numbers > Call Tracking

  1. Select "Somewhere Else" and choose your marketing effort

  2. Complete the Number Setup again by choosing between toll-free or local and selecting the area code or prefix you want

  3. Choose your Number Routing option

  4. Save and Activate!

💡 Tip: Use clear, consistent naming so it’s easy to analyze results later.

Step 4: Set Up Call Forwarding and Notifications

You can direct all tracking numbers to your main business line so you don’t miss a call, and set up email or text notifications for new calls.

  1. Go to Number Management

  2. Select the number you want to configure

  3. Set the forwarding number (your main phone line)

  4. Enable call notifications and voicemail if desired

Step 5: Activate Call Recording (Optional)

If you want to review or evaluate how calls are handled, you can enable Call Recording:

  1. Go to Number Management and choose your phone number

  2. Toggle on Call Recording

  3. Choose a pre-recorded message for compliance to notify callers

This is a great tool for training and improving customer interactions.

Step 6: Track Performance with Call Analytics

800.com provides call reports that show key insights, such as:

  • Call volume by campaign

  • Caller location

  • Time of day

  • Call duration

  • Missed vs. answered calls

Access this by going to Call Analytics in your Dashboard.

Use this data to:

  • See which campaigns drive the most calls

  • Spot high-converting sources

  • Reallocate your budget for maximum ROI

Step 7: Integrate with Outside Sources (Optional)

For more detailed tracking and attribution, connect 800.com with your other tools, such as:

  • Google Analytics: Track phone call events alongside web traffic

  • CRM software: Log calls as part of your lead and customer records

You’ll need to add 800.com’s tracking code to your site and configure your Analytics/CRM settings to receive call data. View all of our integration instructions HERE.

Step 8: Review, Test, and Optimize

Once everything is live:

  • Test each number to ensure forwarding and tracking are working properly

  • Monitor call reports weekly or monthly

  • Run A/B tests by switching numbers in ads or landing pages

  • Use the insights to optimize your campaigns

🚀 You're All Set!

With 800.com, call tracking is easy to set up and powerful to use. In just a few steps, you’ll be able to:

  • Attribute calls to specific campaigns

  • Improve marketing ROI
