4. Enable Dynamic Number Insertion (DNI)
For more accurate call attribution, enable Dynamic Number Insertion (DNI). DNI dynamically changes the phone number displayed on your site based on the visitor’s source, ensuring you can trace each call to the specific campaign or channel that brought the user to your site.
Access our full DNI How-To guide HERE.
To set up DNI:
- In your 800.com dashboard, click on the "Settings" tab on the left menu and scroll down to click on "Integrations" go to the DNI settings.
- Configure the traffic sources you want to track (e.g., Google Ads, Facebook, organic search).
- Insert the DNI script on your WordPress site, either through the plugin or by adding it manually to your theme files.
5. Test the Tracking Number
After setup, it’s crucial to test that the tracking number displays correctly and changes based on the visitor’s source. Visit your website from different sources (e.g., direct, Google search, social media) and verify that the displayed number adjusts accordingly.
6. Connect to Google Analytics (Optional)
For advanced tracking, integrate your call tracking with Google Analytics. This allows you to view calls as conversions within Analytics, alongside other user actions on your site.
To do this:
- In your call tracking provider’s dashboard, go to the integration settings for Google Analytics.
- Follow the instructions to connect your Analytics account and set up conversion tracking.
7. Monitor and Optimize
Once your call tracking is live, use your provider’s dashboard to monitor performance. Track call volumes, durations, and source data to evaluate which campaigns and channels are driving the most valuable calls. Use these insights to refine your marketing strategy, focusing on the channels that deliver the best results.
