What is a Toll-Free number? Toll-free numbers are numbers that begin with one of the following three-digit codes: 800, 888, 877, 866, 855, 844 or 833. Toll-free numbers allow callers to reach businesses and or individuals without being charged for the call, the business can be located globally. The charge for using a toll-free number is paid by the called party (the toll-free subscriber / Business owner) instead of the calling party. Toll-free numbers can contain any numbers or spelling you would like, pending it is currently available. A vanity toll-free number is a custom phone number that uses letters to spell out a word or brand. Think about "1-800-Flowers" for example. These numbers can also be longer than the traditional 10 digits due to a feature called over-spelling, where any number pressed after the 10th digit acts as a phantom number and does not get dialed.
